People Say M Psychotic Coz.....
Dan Kennedy describes psychocybernetics as a mind tool - a tool to improve communication with our servo-mechanism so we can achieve goals faster, more easily and with less stress.
The word 'cybernetics' comes from the Greek word for the 'steersman' of a ship. Originally the science of cybernetics was developed by physicists and mathematicians to study the goal striving and goal oriented behaviour of machines. The addition of 'psycho' then applies this field of study to the human mind.
In line with a number of other scientists you'll read about in his book, Maxwell Maltz believed that our physical brain and nervous system forms a kind of machine - a servo-mechanism. This 'machine' is like a guided missile - it strives to reach the goals that it has been instructed to target.
However, psychocybernetics does not suggest that we are machines. Rather it says that we each have a goal seeking machine at our disposal. What we need to do is to learn how best to use this machine. If we can do that we have a powerful mind tool at our disposal in our efforts to reach our goals.
